# Quickstart

> Connect a domain, create a mapping, and see your first tracked visit.

## Prerequisites

* A Dava account.
* A subdomain  you control and can edit DNS records for, such as `lp.yourbrand.com`.

## Connect your domain

  <Step title="Add the domain in the dashboard">
    Go to **Domains**, add your hostname, and pick a [redirect mode](/domains/redirect-modes). Not sure which mode? Start with **Simple pass-through** — you can change it later.

  <Step title="Point DNS at Dava">
    Create the CNAME record shown in the dashboard. TLS certificates are issued automatically once DNS resolves. Full details in [Connect a domain](/domains/connect-a-domain).

  <Step title="Wait for verification">
    The domain is ready when both the DNS and SSL badges turn green — usually within 5–30 minutes.

## Create a mapping

    Go to **Mappings**, choose the domain you just connected, and add a [mapping](/domains/url-mappings).

  <Step title="Define the rule">
    Set the incoming URL pattern, the destination, and the campaign labels to record.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test it">
    Use [Test a URL](/domains/test-a-url) to confirm the rule matches, then open the tracked URL in your browser — you're redirected, and the visit appears in the dashboard.
